As much as I adore my husband, we weren't very excited about Valentine's Day this year.
El Maestro prefers to show his
love in unexpected ways with his own timing (remember the
diamond earrings?!) and that's fine with me. We took each other to Fred Meyer today and each picked out a new CD in honor of our
hearts' faithful affection:)
Honestly, I like the other kinds of
love on Valentine's Day. I love the way kids at school get so excited--my mom refers to Valentine's Day as the pink
halloween! But it gets me excited. I stamped adorable valentines for my friends at school. Some sweet students remembered me and brought chocolates, candy, and cards for me!
Growing up, we always had waffles with strawberries and whipped cream for dinner on the 14
th of February. I loved that tradition. I haven't really started any of my own as a grown up, but this morning I was awakened by a text message from my Daddy...sending his
love on Valentines day. A few minutes later, the doorbell rang. It was my father-in-law, bringing
his love.
You see, he likes to bake. And he's good at it. He also knows that I like to eat...we make a good pair in the kitchen! He makes a concoction with puff pastry and dark chocolate that is to DIE for! He knows it's my favorite, and guess what he brought over this morning...

My favorite pastries...in the shape of a heart! And THAT, my friends, is my favorite part of Valentine's Day. Showing the people you
love that you
love them. Be it a pastry, a card, a hug, a text, or a CD...it's fun to have a day that reminds us to show people how we feel. We're so blessed to be surrounded by friends and family that we
love.
Happy Valentine's Day! If you are one of the few people that read this blog, it means that you are special to me. Thanks for your friendship!
