I Lied.

Sorry. I didn't mean to! But at the start of the new year I vowed that my bedroom would never be messy again. I wrote,

"I will keep my bedroom clean! For me, the bedroom has always been the last room to be cleaned because, well, no one else sees it. I never thought I was the kind of gal who needed her bedroom to be a relaxing place. We just sleep in it! But after hauling all the junk out to paint, we are LOVING the feel of a clean, calm bedroom. And it will never be chaotic again. It will stay this way forever and ever. Amen."

That lasted...ooh...about a week. I've spent all afternoon trying to dig out from under the piles of laundry, clutter, and odds and ends that have been thrown in our beautiful blue room.

So here's a new goal. I want my room to be CLEAN by the end of the month. That gives me two more days. And when THAT is done, I will make it my goal to KEEP it clean for one month. Hopefully by the end of that month, a new habit will be formed?!

Sew much fun!

You may remember that this year I resolved to learn how to sew! My Grandma passed down her sewing machine to me, and I've been dutifully using it this summer. Sewing has come pretty easy to me...I love it!

My first project (after my sewing machine cover) was an apron. Not just any old apron, but my dream apron! I picked the fabrics and pattern that struck my fancy to a Tee!

Wanna glimpse?

I love the vintage looking velvet rick-rack along the hem!

And the pockets!

Oooh, and did I mention the matching oven mitt?

More projects to come...

Preparation!

It is that time of year again. The time of year to start setting the alarm clock and waking up when it's shrill voice ushers you right out of dreamland.

The time of year to think about curriculum and procedures. To walk into a room that has been empty for two and a half months and imagine how it will be when it is full of 25 loud and lively learners.

Instead of slowly easing into this time of year, I jumped in with both feet. I've been taking a class all week that starts at 8:00 and goes until 3:30. Not quite a full work day, but close! I've gone to bed exhausted, but with too many thoughts swirling around my brain to be able to fall asleep!

Teaching third grade this year with be a challenge. And I've got only one thing to say...

BRING

IT

ON!

The faces of camping

We have a winner!

After writing everyone's name of a piece of paper, folding them in half, and mixing them around in a bowl, I've drawn one person's name.

I am pleased to announce that the winner of my one-year-bloggiversary-giveaway is....

Nancy!

Yay! Thanks for reading, Nancy. You were, in fact, my first inspiration to start a blog, you know! Plus Beanball and I picked out a few stamping accessories with you in mind, so I'm excited to get started;)

Thanks to all of you who entered...It's fun to hear your comments! Feel free to keep them coming...

This giveaway thing is fun...I'm sure there will be more to follow!
And, as always, thanks for reading!

Anniversary!

I just realized that today not only marks three years of marriage for el maestro and I, but it also marks the one year anniversary of my blog!

That's right. One year ago my husband was out of town and I decided to join Nancy and Beanball in their blogging adventures. I thought it might help family keep in touch, thought my mom might enjoy reading about my boring day to day activities...

But really this blog has become a place for me to just...be me? I can post about lavender three times in a row if I want to! I love being able to just write about whatever is on my mind.

To thank you all for being such faithful readers...and making this more than just a personal journal...I'm hosting another contest! Winner will receive a set of personalized, handmade greeting cards. If Nancy wins, they might have a very French flair...If Jessica wins they might be very natural...If Beanball wins they might be full of sunflowers...get the picture?

All you have to do is comment and answer these three questions:
What is your name?
What is your quest?
What is your favorite color?

Just kidding! I was only having a flashback to my Monty Python obsessed high school days.

Anyway, the real question: What has been your favorite post from My Life? I'm sure you haven't read them all...but what stands out as one you thoroughly enjoyed, what made you laugh, or cry, scratch your head in bewilderment?

Please enter by 10:00am Friday morning. Winner will be announced then!
