Fathers

I watched an obscure movie yesterday...and the only thing I got out of it was a good Father's Day line.

As the main character is about to hop in her car as she leaves her wedding, she hugs the man that gave her away and whispers, "I'll still never find a guy like you, Daddy."

I thought it was so sweet...because it isn't said negatively on the part of her new husband...it just kind of explains the way (ideally) that a girl feels about her Dad. He's got such a special place in the heart of his daughter that even a big, fancy, beautiful wedding and a handsome husband can't change the fact that she loves her Daddy!

It's true for me, at least. I guess you could call me a Daddy's girl. It's been done before. And I'm fine with that.
Love you, Daddy!

And it continues...

Supposedly we need to keep these loud, industrial dryers/dehumidifiers going until Monday. Maybe then they can replace the flooring.
Fun, fun times.

A doozy...

Today was suppose to be the day that we finished checking el maestro out of school for the year. Somehow the morning got off to a late start...and then things got hectic. If I were a Twitter-er, this is what my updates would have looked like today.

10:00am
Water all over the kitchen floor. Oh, and dining room. We're talking half an inch or more. This CAN'T be good.

10:15
The water for the whole complex is shut off. The hose spigot in front of the unit is the culprit of the flood. Landlord is at work (fire station)...hopefully he'll get ahold of a plumber.

10:45
I wish I had more towels.

11:15
Having the Fire Chief for a landlord can add nice drama to life. There's a huge fire engine parked just outside!

11:45
Plumber here. I just talked our 93 year old neighbor into giving up the spigot. He's telling us he didn't do it...but the spigot is in his garage...

1:00pm
Locked in the bedroom with Gideon. Guess I should start my summer reading.

1:55
Spigot fixed, water back on. Only a minor hole in the back of our kitchen cabinet.

What a way to start the summer!

El Maestro and I have picked up a new hobby--photography!

Vintage

Also known as brand new.

The first test drive went well. We just took it nice and slow around the parking lot. We get our driving permits this weekend.

He's, like, totally excited!

Still as child-like as ever...

The cat-child, I mean.

Oh how he wants to go outside...

And play in the recycling...

And not have his picture taken. He's a little too much like his father, I think.
